2023 Let’s Get Blitzen: Cocktail Advent Calendar – Day 16 – Sleighbell Caesar. Hosting a holiday brunch is a great way to get together with family and friends during the busiest time of year. I realized in the 5 years of the Let’s Get Blitzen: Cocktail Advent Calendar, I had yet to share a Caesar recipe. Mimosas and boozy coffees have their place but a savoury alternative like a Bloody Caesar riff is another fantastic option to sip on while opening presents or sharing brunch with friends. The great thing about this decadent Caesar is that it can be easily adapted to a zero-proof version by leaving out the vodka.
This holiday season, Egg Farmers of Canada is inspiring Canadians to elevate their gatherings with egg-centric snack boards! Whether it’s a holiday meal with family or a get-together with friends, these versatile boards are perfect for sharing and easy to make for all the season’s festivities.
Charcuterie boards have become a much-loved staple at holiday gatherings – especially at my house. This year, surprise your guests with a fun twist on the time-tested favourite – eggs! This Sleighbell Caesar is the perfect accompaniment to Chef Josh’s Bacon-Wrapped Hard Boiled Eggs with Eggy Hollandaise Dipping Sauce and Board Pairings.
While we’re enjoying some time off from work and revelling with friends and family, Canada’s 1,200 egg farmers continue to work hard so we can enjoy sustainably produced, fresh, local, high-quality eggs for all of our favourite recipes, dishes and snack boards throughout the holiday season and beyond.
As usual, I have a number of other recipes in this year’s edition that feature eggs shaken into our drinks like the Snow Day Sour, Blood Orange Gin Fizz, and The Good Egg Nog, for this recipe I wanted to let eggs have their star moment as a delectable garnish. The chipotle devilled egg is a pared back version of the Deep-Fried Devilled Eggs & Bacon I created a few years ago. The smoky chipotle peppers in adobo sauce add dimension to the devilled eggs, which are equally delicious on their own.
Thanks to the system of supply management, we can trust that our eggs are among the best in the world for quality and freshness, produced according to world-class standards by Canadian farmers.
Egg farmers are dedicated to caring for our planet, embracing sustainable farm practices like using renewable energy to heat and cool their barns while also delivering the eggs Canadians know and love all year round!

Hi Yvonne, Always love your recipes, cocktails and great photography! Question on the bacon wrapped deviled eggs. Isn’t it difficult to cut them in half after frying the bacon wrapped eggs considering the bacon should be cooked till crispy? Obviously I haven’t cooked this one up yet. Thx Sylvia
Hi Sylvia, the recipe I linked is not my own. I imagine you prepare the devilled eggs as usual and then wrap them with fully cooked bacon.
