With gyms shuttered on and off for more than a year, we’ve seen a run on home gym equipment. Availability of dumbbells, barbells, spin bikes, and pretty much anything else you would use to get your sweat on at home has been limited. When you are lucky enough to get your hands on some weights, you’ll likely be paying wildly inflated prices and have to wait weeks or months for them to arrive.
I was lucky enough to snag a 35 lb kettlebell back in March 2020 and borrow some free weights and bands from my parents and personal trainer. That being said, for the most part, I rely on bodyweight exercises to get my grind on at home. That’s why I’m so stoked that my friends at Georgian Bay Spirit Co. have teamed up with The Krate to put on a free four-week virtual workout series starting this Saturday, April 24th.
This post is sponsored by Georgian Bay Spirit Co.
You can sign up for the classes here. Running for the next four Saturdays (April 24, May 1, May 8, May 15) at 10 a.m. ET, each smashing workout will feature 40 minutes of dynamic exercise like HIIT followed by 20 minutes of yoga or stretching. No equipment required but be sure to pick up a few of Georgian Bay Spirit Co.’s new Half Smash products to cheers post-workout.
From the distillery that brought you the classic Georgian Bay Gin Smash and Vodka Smash, the new Half Smash comes in Peach or Citrus at only 2.5% ABV and 100 calories.
Both flavours of the Georgian Bay Half Smash are gin based. They have half the alcohol and are lower in calories than the other Georgian Bay Smash products, but don’t compromise in taste. The Citrus flavour has notes of rosemary, yuzu, and lime. It’s light-bodied and delicately carbonated with a palate-cleansing finish. It’s a great post-workout brunch option and pairs perfectly with fruit salad.
The Peach flavour has notes of lime and mint as well as the delicious stone fruit. It’s refreshingly carbonates and what I would call a great anytime beverage. Easy drinking and low on alcohol, they are great to sip while you’re enjoying the first taste of Spring and throughout the Summer.
I had so much fun filming the little teaser video embedded above. I will say I was pretty gassed after 7 takes of push-ups though – I’m a true method actor. In the reel, you’ll see me doing some of my favourite bodyweight exercises to get my heart pumping. I expect we’ll see a few of these movements in the Smash It Saturday workout series.
If you’d like to replicate the workout I’m doing in the video and limber up before Saturday’s first class, I’d recommend going through these exercises for 50 seconds on, 10 seconds off for three rounds, rest for one minute between rounds – always be sure to warm-up and do some dynamic stretching beforehand.
Hope you’ll join me for this smashing virtual workout series with Georgian Bay Spirit Co. x The Krate – don’t forget to register here.
can’t wait to get motivated!
