Let’s Get Blitzen: Cocktail Advent Calendar – Day 6 – Cranberry Sidecar. The classic Sidecar is one of my favourite sour cocktails. This iteration gets a sophisticated spin thanks to H by Hine VSOP Cognac and a splash of sherry.
H by Hine VSOP Cognac is a divine creation from the award-winning Cognac house. Distilled from Grande and Petite Champagne grapes, this Cognac pours brilliant amber and displays beautiful notes of lime, apricot, ginger, vanilla, and pepper. On the palate, H by Hine is medium-bodied and fruity with a long, elegant finish.
This post is sponsored by Hine Cognac.
The adventure of Hine began in 1763 on the banks of the river Charente, in Jarnac. Two and a half centuries after Thomas Hine’s founding journey from Dorset, the historic cellars of the 16 quai de l’Orangerie opened.
If you (like me) have a regal tastes, you’ll be pleased to know that Hine House was the sole official cognac supplier to Her Majesty the Queen Elizabeth II.
In this tasty little treat, I’ve combined H by Hine VSOP Cognac with a bit of amontillado sherry to bring a nutty note to the cocktail, orange liqueur, lemon, spiced cranberry syrup and egg white. The frothy egg white helps to balance the acidity of the drink and brings a lovely velvety mouthfeel.
While I hate to choose favourites, my cocktail creations are like my children after all, this Cranberry Sidecar is certainly one I’ll be revisiting time and again.
Be sure to tune into my Instagram Stories tonight at 5 p.m. Eastern for a step-by-step cocktail tutorial on how to make this juicy combination of cranberry and cognac.
Cheers, friends!
