Cranberry Sidecar | Taste and Tipple

Cranberry Sidecar

The classic Sidecar is one of my favourite sour cocktails. This iteration gets a sophisticated spin thanks to H by Hine VSOP Cognac and a splash of sherry.

Ingredients

  • oz H by Hine VSOP Cognac
  • ½ oz amontillado sherry
  • ½ oz Grand Marnier
  • ½ oz spiced cranberry syrup
  • ½ oz lemon juice
  • 1 egg white OR ¾ oz aquafaba
  • Garnish: 3 cranberries

Spiced Cranberry Syrup

  • 2 cups fresh cranberries
  • cups water
  • cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 2 strips of orange peel 2-inch thick
  • 1/8 tsp salt

Instructions

  1. Add all ingredients to a shaker and dry shake for 15-20 seconds.
  2. Add ice and shake again until well-chilled.
  3. Strain into a chilled coupe glass.
  4. Garnish with 3 cranberries skewered on a cocktail pick.

Spiced Cranberry Syrup

  1. Combine ingredients in a small saucepan over medium-high heat. Bring to a boil, then turn heat down to medium low. Simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Do not cook longer or the syrup will become jelly.
  2. Remove from heat and let cool to room temperature.
  3. Fine strain into an airtight container.
