I’ve been wanting to introduce style content to the blog for some time now. All photos herein were captured by the talented Isabel Estabrook of Brook Media. We had initially planned for a shoot in mid-March, but as luck and COVID-19 would have it, it was a few months before we had the opportunity to reschedule.
Luckily, the weather in July is a bit warmer than in March and the landscape is more vibrant.

I was glad to finally be able to take the leap into fashion as many of my regular viewers of Virtual Happy Hour on my Instagram Stories often inquire after my outfit details.
I love colour and pattern and all times of year (which is probably why I’ll never be able to make the transition to a capsule wardrobe – so many of my pieces are very distinctive and recognizable) but especially in the summer.
In this look I’m pairing these high-waisted navy shorts with a scalloped hem, that I picked up at Club Monaco a few years ago, with a cross-neck lightweight knit top from Reiss. I’ve punched up the colour with an oversized silk scarf that I nabbed from Judith & Charles a couple of seasons ago, which I’ve knotted at both ends to create sleeves and style it as a kind of robe.
I’m also sporting a white straw fedora with colourful tassels that I found at Nordstrom two summers ago, a neon green headband to keep my hair out of my face when a strong breeze kicks up and, monstera palm earrings from New York jewelry designer Lulu Frost.
In terms of shoes and a bag – I tend to prioritize comfort during the dog days of summer. Since I live in the heart of the city, I make more of an effort to commute by foot, rather than wasting money on Ubers or driving during the warmer months. I picked up these SUPER wearable Sam Edelman sneakers from Nordstrom a few weeks ago and this Chloe mini Marcie bag is my go-to lightweight crossbody.
The bag is just big enough for my Summer 2020 essentials: face mask, hand sanitizer, cell phone, wallet, keys, and, of course, my signature bold lipstick (for whenever it’s safe to take the mask off).
I’d been on the hunt for the perfect white sneaker and couldn’t be happier with this pair from Sam Edelman. They have plenty of support and look adorable paired with everything from denim shorts to sundresses.
My rings are a stacking set from Ottawa-based boutique, JV Studios. They have a great selection of artisanal baubles, accessories, and greeting cards. Worth a visit if you haven’t been.
While many of these items are from past seasons, I’ve done by best to dig up similar items and included them in the Shop The Look slider above.
