Hello friends, I’m Yvonne! I mix drinks with equal parts education, comedic flair, and style to take the intimidation factor out of cocktails and help you approach your home bar with more confidence.

Based in Ottawa, Ontario but known to satisfy my wanderlust on at least one big trip a year!

Cocktail hour should be the exclamation point in your week!

After 3.5 years of consistent blogging, my drive was flagging. My growth seemed stagnant and I wasn’t sure if my content was resonating with my audience. Then, the world changed. When the pandemic made landfall in Canada and sent the nation into lockdown, I picked up my iPhone and filmed a one-handed three-ingredient cocktail tutorial on Instagram Stories.

That evening, a handful of fans followed suit and whipped up the cocktail in their homes and implored me to make it a regular thing. From March to July 2020 I filmed 100 episodes of Virtual Happy Hour. Recording six nights a week, I took my followers through the canon of three-ingredient classics and more, sharing the fascinating histories behind our favourite drinks and the people who created them.

I consider food and drink a universal love language. If you’re anything like me, whether you’re making a charcuterie board or shaking up cocktails, you put care and consideration into every step.

I launched Taste & Tipple in September 2017 and it’s been a constant evolution ever since. When I began, I kept myself out of the spotlight, working diligently behind the scenes to develop, test, and photograph recipes that I shared here on the blog, on Instagram, and Pinterest.

“When I grow up, I’ll never make the same recipe twice in a month.”

While all this lead to my first ever brand partnership and gave me the spur of motivation to keep creating, the biggest thing I’ve gained from Virtual Happy Hour is community. I’m so grateful for the online friends who have become IRL friends and continue to tune into Virtual Happy Hour on my Stories Tuesdays and Fridays at 5 p.m. Eastern.

I hope you’ll join us. Cheers!

Virtual Happy Hour forced me to get comfortable in front of the camera. As time went on, I started more of myself online from hilarious anecdotes from my failed dating life to the trials and tribulations of living alone in a 600-square-foot condo for months of social isolation.

My channel grew quickly as people sought out at-home entertainment and more and more people started joining in - honing their cocktail skills and discovering new recipes.

Home Bar Essentials

One of the most common questions I get is,
“What do I need in my home bar?"
