Snowfall Sour

Toasted nuttiness and oxidative tang invperfect harmony with gin botanicals. This sour is both refined and nostalgic.

Ingredients

  • oz London dry gin
  • ½ oz vanilla pear syrup
  • ½ oz amontillado sherry
  • ¾ oz lemon juice
  • 1 egg white
  • Garnish: dashes angostura bitters

Vanilla Pear Syrup

  • 2 cups ripe pears roughly chopped
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1 tsp vanilla paste or ½ tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Add all ingredients to a shaker and dry shake for 15-20 seconds.
  2. Add ice and shake again until well-chilled.
  3. Strain into a chilled coupe glass.
  4. Garnish with 5 drops of Angostura bitters arranged to look like 5 on dice.

Vanilla Pear Syrup

  1. Combine ingredients in a small saucepan over medium-high heat. Bring to a boil, then turn heat down to medium low. Simmer for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and let cool to room temperature.

  2. Fine-strain into an airtight container.
