Blue Christmas

Blue Christmas is my wintery Between the Sheets remix. Calvados and white rum keep the skeleton classic, while blue curaçao and vanilla pear syrup turn it into a cool-toned holiday daydream, finished with a flamed orange peel for a little fireside drama.

Ingredients

  • 1 oz Calvados
  • 1 oz white rum
  • ½ oz blue curacao
  • ½ oz vanilla pear syrup
  • ¼ oz lemon juice
  • Garnish: flamed orange peel

Vanilla Pear Syrup

  • 2 cups ripe pears roughly chopped
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1 tsp vanilla paste or ½ tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Add all ingredients to a shaker with ice and shake until well-chilled.
  2. Fine-strain into a chilled coupe glass.
  3. Garnish with a flamed orange peel.

Vanilla Pear Syrup

  1. Combine ingredients in a small saucepan over medium-high heat. Bring to a boil, then turn heat down to medium low. Simmer for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and let cool to room temperature.
  2. Fine-strain into an airtight container.
