Sage Apple Spritz

This is the perfect Thanksgiving cocktail but can be enjoyed throughout the fall and winter.

Ingredients

  • oz apple cider
  • 1 oz rye
  • 1 oz Amaro Nonino
  • 1/4 oz allspice dram (optional)
  • ½ oz lemon juice
  • ½ oz rich demerara syrup
  • 3 dashes Angostura bitters
  • 3 oz dry sparkling wine like Cava or Prosecco
  • 1 sprig fresh sage for garnish

Rich Demerara Syrup

  • 2 cups demerara sugar
  • 1 cup water

Instructions

  1. Add all ingredients, except sparkling wine and sage, to a cocktail shaker. Add ice.

  2. Shake until well-chilled.

  3. Strain into an ice-filled wine glass. Top with sparkling wine and stir to combine.

  4. Garnish with a sprig of fresh sage.

Rich Demerara Syrup

  1. Add demerara sugar and water to a medium saucepan. Heat over medium heat.

  2. Stir regularly until sugar is dissolved - about 5 minutes. Let cool to room temperature.

  3. Strain into an air-tight container and store in the fridge for up to 3 weeks.
