I’m delighted to inform you that I am currently starring in my first ever in-store campaign. I know what you’re thinking, “What can’t she do?” To which the answer is: sing. But my complete lack of musical talent certainly hasn’t gotten in the way of my ability to craft delectable cocktails and look cute while doing it, if I do say so myself.
When Wine Rack reached out to me to ask if I would be interested in developing a Summer Sangria recipe which they would package and sell in stores, I had to pinch myself. Not only did they want me to develop a recipe but they wanted to capture me in action mixing up this delicious pitcher cocktail and use that imagery in the corresponding campaign. It was all very exciting and it’s still a bit surreal when I see my face in stores. If you too want to be dazzled by my winning smile and tasty Hibiscus Sparkling Rosé Sangria – head to your local Wine Rack store before August 31st (available while quantities last) or order your kit online here.

I was asked to create a Summer Sangria recipe using Open Rosé, Bodacious Bubbles, and Good Fortune Raspberry Hibiscus (a very drinkable canned wine spritzer). I was overjoyed at my draw – I love a rosé sangria and find my sangria recipes are often popular with you fine folks, my readers.
I wanted to create a sangria recipe that would be balanced, easy-drinking and uncomplicated to make. The secret to successful summer entertaining (now that we are allowed to gather with friends and family more freely) is to pull together a pitcher cocktail before guests arrive and not be running inside to make a fresh batch of drinks every time someone finds the bottom of their glass.
If you are preparing this sangria ahead of time, I’d recommend combining the Open Rosé, Good Fortune Raspberry Hibiscus, chilled tea, citrus juices, bitters and fruits and mint in a large pitcher and placing it in the fridge to chill for up to 6 hours before guests arrive. Mix in the sparkling wine (Bodacious Bubbles) when you’re ready to get the party started. To prevent the sangria from getting overly diluted or watery, I’d recommend keeping the sangria in the fridge or nestling the pitcher in an ice bucket and only adding one large ice cube to each glass when serving.
I developed a Hibiscus Sparkling Rosé Sangria that draws on the generous fruit character of the Open Rosé and the off-dry medium-bodied palate of the Bodacious Bubbles that boasts flavours of florals, citrus and fig, all while leaning into the bright hibiscus flavour of the Good Fortune wine spritzer.
To create a balanced and refreshing sangria I didn’t add any syrup or sweetener and instead focused on adding acidity and subtle bitterness. Chilled hibiscus tea creates a solid foundation for this sangria and is brightened with fresh grapefruit and lemon juices. A generous lashing of Angostura aromatic bitters completes the picture.
My Hibiscus Sparkling Rosé Sangria Kit is available at Wine Rack in stores or online until the end of August and each kit includes one bottle of Open Rosé, one bottle of Bodacious Bubbles, two cans of Good Fortune Raspberry Hibiscus, a recipe card and is sold in a reusable bag (perfect for repurposing as a handy beach bag). You’ll need to pick up your hibiscus tea, lemons, grapefruit and bitters separately but fortunately, many Wine Rack locations are located within or near a grocery store!
I’ve included the recipe below and it makes 8 servings but only uses half of each bottle of wine – meaning that the kit itself contains enough ingredients for two batches of sangria (16 servings).
This Hibiscus Sparkling Rosé Sangria is sold in a kit available at Wine Rack locations across Ontario until August 31, 2021. Pick up yours in store or online.
Congratulations Yvonne on all your achievements of late…you go girl!!! Will definitely be trying this recipe. Cheers!!
Very delicious and refreshing!
