2023 Let’s Get Blitzen: Cocktail Advent Calendar – Day 14 – Blood Orange Gin Fizz. The Whitley Neill family has been crafting spirits since 1762 and their mastery shines through in their Blood Orange Gin with its bright, zesty aromas and flavour of the Mediterranean sun.
This cocktail captures the sunshine of Whitley Neill Blood Orange Gin and combines it with freshly squeezed blood orange juice, a squeeze of lemon, bitter Campari, white port for sweetness and complexity, honey, thyme & vermouth syrup to complement the botanicals in the gin, and egg white for a frothy finish.

The brand is currently helmed by 8th generation family member, distiller Johnny Neill.
Johnny learned about gin and the complexities of distilling under his grandmother’s tutelage. He learnt how, by simply infusing the crisp sharpness of juniper berries with a variety of other flavours and aromas, the taste could change dramatically. And for Johnny, that opened up a world of possibility.
From that moment onwards, he was driven to create a blend of gins that captured his family’s passion and something altogether more exotic, enigmatic, and mysterious. He founded the popular Whitley Neill Gin in 2005.
Whitley Neill Gin is made with nine meticulously curated botanicals from all over the world which are combined with the purest grain spirit to yield its unique, balanced flavour and aroma.
The Blood Orange Gin captures the essence of zesty, vibrant Sicilian blood oranges in a glass and makes for an exceptional addition to your home bar. It works beautifully in this surprising cocktail that I’ve designed to be a kind of blood orange Negroni Sour with some unexpected additions. I think you’re going to like this one.
Whitley Neill Gin is distilled at the multi-award-winning City of London Distillery, the first, and still the only, gin distillery in The City of London in 200 years. The goal of the City of London Distillery has always been to bring back and maintain the heritage and history of London’s gin production whilst incorporating new contemporary ideas.
Be sure to join me on my Instagram Stories tonight at 5 p.m. Eastern for a step-by-step tutorial on how to make this cocktail.
Cheers, friends!
