Add all ingredients to an ice-filled shaker. Shake vigorously for 30 seconds. Strain into a martini glass. Garnish with a slice of candied blood orange.
Combine blood orange juice and sugar in a small saucepan over medium heat. Stir to dissolve sugar and bring to a boil. Remove from heat and let cool to room temperature before using.
