Tears of the Sun: Tequila Cocktail

Ingredients

  • oz reposado tequila
  • ½ oz crème de cassis
  • ¼ oz crème de cacao
  • ¼ oz hibiscus syrup
  • ¾ oz lime juice
  • 1 egg white or 3/4 oz aquafaba
  • Garnish: dehydrated blood orange wheel

Hibiscus Syrup

  • 2 hibiscus teabags
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 cup sugar

Instructions

  1. Add all ingredients except garnish to a cocktail shaker. Dry shake (without ice) for 15-20 seconds. Add ice, shake again.

  2. Strain into a rocks glass over one large ice cube. Garnish with dehydrated blood orange wheel.

Hibiscus Syrup

  1. Steep hibiscus teabags in 1 cup of boiling water for 5 minutes. Pour into a small saucepan with sugar. Simmer over medium heat for a few minutes until sugar is dissolved. Cool to room temperature and strain into an airtight container. Syrup will keep in your fridge for 2-3 weeks.
